Most of the time it becomes very difficult to find out which ones is the best one for car repairs – whether car dealers are good or big workshops or roadside garages. But the services of each one differ accordingly. But, there is one thing that you should know is that to check your car very nicely before you give it in to any dealer or workshops. Sometimes, the truth is that car dealers or big workshops can get nasty and to increase their bill, they might cause some problems in your car, and in the end, you will have no option but to give them for repair. Recently, this has happened with my car, it just needed servicing and oil changing. But after the services when I took the car back home, there was a sound in the car coming from the steering rack i.e. electronic rack and my car had only run 8000km. So, this was not some common issue, plus when I showed in the roadside garage, they said it was done by them and cannot happen on its own and then the car dealers even raised a bill too.
Therefore, some times even the roadside garage can also be good one, as they work right. Though may lack certifications, but they do have experience and knowledge. So, you should also look for experience and authenticity of the services be it dealer or workshop or garage. The only difference between dealers and car garage is that the dealers and car shops can keep records systematically and the garage may not have the records. Next, difference is of the spare parts, the dealer might give you OEM parts or others, whereas the garages try their best to fix the issue, making sure your car functions smoothly.
Local Mechanics Are Good -
Whenever people buy a car, they know that there are many servicing and repairs that they will have to do. One of the most common is servicing which everyone does like changing the oil and the filter and getting your car a wash is common. Car owners mostly think of getting these servicing or work of the car done with a nearby mechanic. It is also ok to trust the local mechanic for regular car servicing work. Another reason why these local mechanics work so well is that they know that only when the work is done right, then only many customers would approach the local garage. So, you can choose those local mechanics and ask them to repair your car or do the regular servicing of the cars.
The local mechanics do a satisfactory job and you can make a good rapport with them. Apart from that, if you are a regular visitor to these mechanics then one of the advantages is that you can get a free work done sometimes, or if there is a minor technical work that needs to be done, then you can get that done free. Another big advantage that you have of local garage is the cost factor. It is not like automobile companies garage where you will have to pay the cost, which is mentioned in the bill. Here you can ask for a better deal, whenever you choose to visit the garage. However, the same is not applicable in any authorized center.
Merits and Demerits of Local Mechanics –
However, there are certain disadvantages also of the local mechanics. In addition, one of the biggest disadvantages of such local mechanics is that they are not masters. And they are expert in few things like jack of all trades. So, you should be able to recognize such mechanics. Plus, in many cases it happens that, they apply error method and trial method. One of the things, that you should know is that the error method or the trail method may work sometimes, but not always and it also tends to ruin the car parts. If you know such a mechanic who is genuine and does not know to repair the parts, then he would straightway suggest you to go the service center or automotive shop or garage to repair the same.
One of my local mechanics is very honest and once he straight forward suggested me to go to the automotive shop or not to mess with the problem of the sound. Instead of giving me false hopes by experimenting with my car, the mechanic was direct. So, you should look for such honest mechanics who only apply that much of knowledge which they have and not experiment or do anything which is trial based or error based. In addition, if your car is too old or not so old, but used ones then they can suggest you to sell your car and they (local mechanics) can get you good deals too, where you expect a good buyer with good price for your car.
Authorized Center -
One of the most important reasons as to why people choose authorized service center for the servicing of their car is because they want to keep their cars warranty intact. Keeping the warranty of the car or vehicle intact helps in case of claims where there is damage. In an authorized service center there are professionals who keep securely the database of the cars which they service. Also, there has been cases, where the service centers that are authorized have refused the warranty of the car, because people had taken their car in the local garage or other places.
Warranty of Car -
So, as long as your car is under warranty or its service parts are under warranty, you should keep visiting the centers for car repair and servicing that is authorized one. And, in case of any kind of damage in the car or car parts, you can be assured that the authorized service centers would use genuine parts of the car during a repair. Plus, the mechanics that are available in the authorized service center are qualified and they are also experts and they don’t work by error method or trial method, which the local mechanics can work with. But not all local mechanics are like that, some of them are genuine and honest too.
